Updating old photos

Slowly Morgan and I are making the house our own little happy home.  Today we took a bunch of old out dated photos down and replaced them with pictures of our friends and families.  We still need a new photo of my brother’s family, of my best friend Michelle, and my Step-Dad and one of [...]

Liatris

I tell Paul this morning that I have posted about him on my blog.  He says he hopes I said something nice, of course I say.  His wife is a Buddhist and he shows me her picture, she looks familiar.  Joe drives me crazy, preaching the gospel.  Paul says we sound like an old married [...]

Ugliness

I woke up feeling hideous today.  Grumpy, cranky, miserable.  I have my suspicions as to why but no proof yet.  Let’s just say that I suspect that the cysts on my ovary may not yet be resolved, I am in some considerable pain.  God aren’t hormones fabulous!
I knitted up the last bits of my linen sweater, [...]

I discovered this website while looking for pictures to go with vocabulary words for the literacy group I run on Tuesday mornings.  http://www.geekalerts.com.  Also the librarian at my school has found that the MacLife subscription is not utilized by any staff or students and until the subscription runs out she is giving them to me; [...]

Mask of Depression

I was once told that depression is really a mask for anger.  And anger for women is often embodied as depression.  The woman in this painting is wearing a hideous mask – lanky hair, sallow skin, a palpable ugliness.  Behind her mask is a translucent (transcendant?) beauty her passion, creativity a mass of flowing flaming [...]

Dinner with Friends

I love my friends Bill and John and I had dinner with them tonight.  It was three and a half hours of laughing.  I cannot believe what hideously ugly creatures straight men are sometimes.  Really.  My new friend C. met us at Mai Lan, we were discussing the idea of dating and she talked about [...]

Wisdom Eye

Stepping forth from a dark forest glade
to the dappled sunlight of an oak grove
a deer startles and stops
a still vision
a path of stones
wandering to a mountain stream
baubling rippling in a brilliant light
strong hands cup the crystal water
a pause,
water trickles
a wizened hand reaches up
a startled visitor stops
a withered old gnome
eyes glittering and sparkling
a merry laugh
the wanderer [...]

I spent all day Saturday in a meditation retreat at the Zen Center of Syracuse.  It was wonderfully peaceful.  It lasted blissfully until about 2 am…when I had a horrific dream involving my ex…and then didn’t sleep the rest of the night.  The morning a cold, awkward uncomfortable mess, followed in complete contrast by a warm [...]

Painting Again

Off and on throughout the years, I have stepped away from painting and back again several times. When I was pregnant, I stopped painting because I didn’t want to expose my unborn child to oil paint fumes and solvent. When she was an infant I was busy being a single parent and working two jobs [...]
