my daughter’s favorite flower
I realized it is not that i have a lull in blooms at this time of year…it is actually that absolutely everything blooming in my garden is purple. Purple allium, purple iris, purple dame’s rocket (a wild flower that resembles phlox but with four petals instead of five), purple sage flowers, purple salvia, purple phlox, purple perennial geranium, oh and two orange poppies. The allium was growing in a hidden spot in the garden and last year I transplanted it and put it in three different spots in the garden. It is growing really well and one of them has a bunch of new flower heads on it today. The forget me not is so pretty and lovely and at this point is taking over half of the back yard. A couple years ago I transplanted some of it to the front, which hasn’t taken hold as much as the shaded back yard. This purple geranium was given to me by my friend Adranna who has a gorgeous garden, she owns a huge old Victorian and they purchased an adjacent lot for their vegetable garden, her perennials and a few fruit trees, including a mulberry, YUM!
